How is it that what should perhaps be the easiest prompt of this whole challenge has somehow turned into one of the most difficult? I thought this would be simple – just pick a base colour and doodle something fun. I took my inspiration from a pair of High School Musical 2 curtains I have sitting around in my sewing pile. At first I tried to use a denim effect polish as the base and doodled with my new Rio art pens but the colour from the denim polish bled and everything when blue and that was that. So I picked a different base: Caramel by Barry M. But it still wasn’t easy. These nail art pens, despite being “professional” and getting really good reviews, do not seem to agree with me at all.

Over halfway! It’s all downhill from here, as they say. Today seemed liked a good day to break out an indie polish. One with lots of rounds in it. Or two with lots of rounds in, as it turned out.
Another prompt, another perhaps unoriginal but whole new to me design. I love an excuse to do something new with caviar – follow the tag to see some of my other hair-brained ideas. When I was trying to come up with a sweet-inspired nail art design my first thought was liquorice allsorts! My favourite ones are the jelly ones covered in little beads of sugar. A nail art match made in heaven!
I had lots of cool ideas involving hearts, but then I got distracted by the pastel and neon studs that had just arrived from Born Pretty Store and the shiny holographic polish that I’d been trying to find for months and I ended up doing something very simple.
Excuse me while I go all old-school on this prompt. I had this camo green from Claire’s Accessories and doing a traditional camouflage design with it has been on my to-do list ever since.
