Traditionally the 31 Day Challenge happens in September – this is when everyone else did it. I too did it, after a fashion. I more or less kept up with the actual nail designing from day to day – I just didn’t manage to post any blogs on the subject. I’ve done too much lovely work to hide it all away though, so as of today I’m having my only little 31DC2015. I hope you don’t mind!

It’s Halloween today! Are you ready?! Don’t worry if your nails are still bare, I’ve got TWO really quick ideas for you today!
As I mentioned yesterday, I don’t do Halloween, but I’m going to a gig tonight and it seemed the perfect excuse to adorn my nubbins with something a bit different. As I’ve been watching Dexter for the last several months (just started Season 5, no spoilers!) I really wanted to try out blood spatter!
When I first saw the bottles for Pear Drops and Rhubarb and Custard, I wondered why Models Own were releasing two colours so similar to each other. However, when you apply them, it becomes apparent that the two colours are very different. Whereas Pear Drops is an orange-red jelly with very fine glitter, Rhubarb and Custard is a deep red with textured grains of shiny glitter in it:
When Models Own latest range came out at the end of July, I was right in there – I am a huge fan of the Fruit Pastel collection of scented polishes, and the idea of traditional sweet scents sounded fantastic! I picked up all 5 of the Sweet Shop collection… and then they sat in my room while I didn’t manage to find any time to paint my nails. Slowly but surely I’ve been working on a little set of designs that showcases each of their special features, and I’ll be posting one every day this week! Better late than never, right?
I’m starting off with Pear Drops:
Day 10! Can you believe we’re into double figures and about one third of the way through this challenge already! I’m not doing too well at getting all the posts written in time but I’m managing to keep up with the nails! If you’d like to see all my pictures together then check out my Instagram.
I’ve done a few gradients already so far this challenge, so it feels a bit odd that this is the most basic gradient yet. I’ve kind of got into the mindset that a gradient should be a base for something, but I loved this so much I didn’t want to add anything to it!
So I decided that I had to give it a go. Since it was the 31 Day Challenge that started me blogging this time last year I couldn’t bear to not at least try to keep up with the challenge this year. We’ll see how I do!
Red nails. In true 31DC fashion, I’m not at all convinced by this design.
If you cast your mind back all the way to May, which was nearly a month ago already, the Tri-Polish Tuesday colours were Purple, Red and Green. I did three designs which I was chuffed to bits with, and not one of them made it onto the blog in time. May was just one of those months.
So instead, tonight you get all three of them!
We don’t really have drugstores here in the UK, so I had to interpret this one a little bit. In this context, I’m figuring what the Americans call a drugstore we would call a pharmacy. A big one like Boots or Superdrug that sell all your toiletries as well as just prescription medication etc. This means to me cheap polish, or at least relatively inexpensive. So I’ve gone for Miss Sporty. I think I picked up these two polishes along with a third for £5. These are not at all expensive. Miss Sporty has a bit of a reputation for being a young person brand rather than a serious one for buying your make up from, but I got these colours because I was trying to match them to a dress at the time and these were the closest I could find. I have apparently used them once before but it was very subtle!
I’m quite partial to Jelly polishes. I really love that squishy, yummy looking finish. That being said, I don’t own very many – it seems they’re generally only made by Indie brands and I can never find them or they’re hideously expensive! So I was pleasantly surprised when this one dropped through my door in a Tara’s Talons Treasure Trove box in January. This is Feeling Festive:
This is a typically picture heavy post for a set of gig nails. I can’t help showing them off! Since I started using adhesive tabs to stick false nails on rather than glue, I’ve been wearing falsies more often. This particular set of nails has seen quite a few uses – two gigs and a wedding! This is a very simple design by my standards, but I wanted to match this gorgeous dress that I’ve had lots of excuse to wear this month.
