I don’t think I can overstate how much of a pain in the ass this design was. It might look cool, but it’s EVIL. These nails were a NIGHTMARE.

Today I am mostly excited because Michelle Humphrey herself tweeted at me to say she liked my design yesterday! I’m such a fangirl of her designs that this was lovely! If you still have no idea why I’m posting about Lily Allen then start here. For the June edition of Glamour Magazine, cover starlet Lily Allen did a shoot in all kinds of crazy clothes and every day this week I’m posting a design based on something in that shoot. Now we’re into the latter half of the week I’m posting the complicated designs that took me aaages and look very effective (in my humble opinion). Today I’ve gone all monochrome to match this strangely circus-like shirt and leggings combo by Emanuel Ungaro.
This is a typically picture heavy post for a set of gig nails. I can’t help showing them off! Since I started using adhesive tabs to stick false nails on rather than glue, I’ve been wearing falsies more often. This particular set of nails has seen quite a few uses – two gigs and a wedding! This is a very simple design by my standards, but I wanted to match this gorgeous dress that I’ve had lots of excuse to wear this month.
Today is February 26th and as of this moment I have only the first seven days of the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge posted. This month has rather run away with me. The good news is that a lot of the designs are done, I just haven’t posted them. So I shall be back-posting for the next weeks as well as trying to post new designs so that you don’t all just think I posted for February and then abandoned you all. Clear as mud? Good, let’s see some more nails!
This is one from my folder of to-post from just after Christmas – when No-Buy-November was over I took advantage of Tara’s Talons sale and picked up 4 random polishes. Two that looked just made for each other were Frosted Flowers and Happily Ever After. So I ran with those.
The astute among you will notice that while this post is date stamped February 1st, it’s posted on February 2nd. I never got near my computer yesterday! I suspect this month will be much busier than I’d like.
The Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge has started! I like the prompts for this challenge – they’re really making me think. Day 1 is Achromatic, which means “without colour.” I went for a gradient of black to white – and managed to do it a couple of different ways:
We interrupt your regular dose of David Bowie to bring you something more seasonal: Christmas nails!
This design by Cute Polish brings together ALL of the classic Christmas nail art – Christmas sweater, gingerbread man, santa, fairy lights, snowflakes and snowmen, candy canes, presents and Christmas tree! Cute Polish is running a competition to win a whole host of amazing prizes and you can get extra entries for recreating her designs and tagging her on Instagram. It seemed only fitting to try out her Christmas tutorial. Check out the bottom of this post for her video!
Sorry, I’ve been a bit quiet this week! Why is the first week of the month always so busy?
I’ve got a lot of pictures backed up. I might have to start double posting or I’ll never catch up with myself!
Today I have got some more David Bowie nails to show you! Remember catching a glimpse of this sheet? I finally finished it. (Plus an extra one.)
I was in Tesco earlier in the week and couldn’t help looking at the make up section. I picked up three polishes at 29p each. They’re Tesco own brand All About Nails and I’ve never used them or heard of them before but come on – polish for £0.29. I’d be mad not to. One of them has the catchy name of Purple Rain, which is a lovely deep glossy deep purple shade. I could have used it for my Inspired By A Song but I already have that one lined up so I thought I’d do it for this instead. I took some liberties with my inspiration but hopefully you can see how I’ve interpreted the rain bit, right?
After the last few days, I needed this to be simple. Blissfully simple. Thank heavens for dotting day!
