To #31DC2014 Or Not?

September is just on the other side of the weekend and this means two things to me – firstly, that I am coming up to my 1 Year Blog-iversary! I began this little blog on September 1st 2013 so that I could participate in the 31 Day Challenge 2013 and I nearly made it to the end, getting up to 28 before I ran out of puff.

Which leads me onto number 2. The 31 Day Challenge 2014 begins on September 1st and I’d love to join in, but I just don’t know if I can manage it! In September I’ll be handing in my PhD thesis (hopefully) *and* moving house and on top of that I doubt I’d be able to give the 31DC2014 all the time and attention it deserves. You might have noticed that since Lily Allen week at the beginning of the month my blog postings have… not happened.

Lily Allen Week: The Aquilano.Rimondi Bra and Skirt

Alas, today is Friday and we have come to the final design of Lily Allen week. Tomorrow I’ll post a quick round up of all 5 posts and then it will be over. Luckily, I’ve saved my absolute favourite til last. I was very ambitious with this design and it’s one of the most complex things I’ve ever done! I went freehand for this one, mostly – and wow, how did it come out?

Lily Allen Week: The Emanuel Ungaro Shirt and Leggings

Today I am mostly excited because Michelle Humphrey herself tweeted at me to say she liked my design yesterday! I’m such a fangirl of her designs that this was lovely! If you still have no idea why I’m posting about Lily Allen then start here. For the June edition of Glamour Magazine, cover starlet Lily Allen did a shoot in all kinds of crazy clothes and every day this week I’m posting a design based on something in that shoot. Now we’re into the latter half of the week I’m posting the complicated designs that took me aaages and look very effective (in my humble opinion).  Today I’ve gone all monochrome to match this strangely circus-like shirt and leggings combo by Emanuel Ungaro.

Lily Allen Week: The Sideways French Manicure

For the middle day of Lily Allen Week, you have to look a bit further than the outfits for my inspiration.

Today I have decided to recreate Lily Allen’s manicure from the June Glamour Magazine shoot:

Lily Allen Week: Theyskens’ Theory Knit

Thanks for all the great feedback on my post yesterday! It seems you are all loving the YSL and Coral Glaze beauty of my first Lily Allen Week design. If you missed yesterday’s explanation then here it is again: I’ve created five designs based on Lily Allen’s photo shoot for the June Glamour Magazine and I’ll be posting one every day this week. I started yesterday with a simple but effective Hypergel design based on a floaty Saint Laurent dress.

Today I have a more complex design for you, based on this slightly strange looking ensemble by Theyskens’ Theory.

Lily Allen Week: The Saint Laurent Dress

Every now and again I like a project. I also like to go through magazines and cut out pictures for inspiration. When Lily Allen was on the cover of Glamour Magazine in June I got both! Every day this week I’ll be posting a design based on Lily Allen’s fab shoot for that issue. You can find the whole shoot here if you’d like to see the outfits in all their glory!

Today I present the dress from the cover: this fabulous floaty coral number by Saint Laurent.
