Models Own Sweet Shop: Gumballs

Today is the turn of the pink polish of the Sweet Shop collection: Gumballs. Of all the five sweets represented, gumballs are the one that I never really liked. That said, the smell of this polish still makes my mouth water.

31 Day Challenge 2014 Day 11: Polka Dots

31 Day Challenge 2014 Day 11: Polka Dots

This is another design that I can’t take any credit for – I was browsing Pinterest for something interesting to do and I came across this pin. I liked the effect of white spots over a white background and the light shade of the base gradient.

Lily Allen Week: The Emanuel Ungaro Shirt and Leggings

Today I am mostly excited because Michelle Humphrey herself tweeted at me to say she liked my design yesterday! I’m such a fangirl of her designs that this was lovely! If you still have no idea why I’m posting about Lily Allen then start here. For the June edition of Glamour Magazine, cover starlet Lily Allen did a shoot in all kinds of crazy clothes and every day this week I’m posting a design based on something in that shoot. Now we’re into the latter half of the week I’m posting the complicated designs that took me aaages and look very effective (in my humble opinion).  Today I’ve gone all monochrome to match this strangely circus-like shirt and leggings combo by Emanuel Ungaro.

Life in Lacquer Nail Art Challenge: Inspired By Another Blogger

I haven’t managed to join in with all of the prompts in this challenge, but I really like this one! My favourite blogger is far and away Alice of One Nail To Rule Them All. I used a handful of her tutorials at the South West Blogger Meet to paint other people’s nails and now I’ve finally had a chance to do one for myself!

Inspired By: Scarf from The Real McCoy

Welcome to the second of my Inspired By posts from the South West Blog Social! This is the second item I picked up with a voucher from the goody bag. The lovely lady in The Real McCoy (whose name I have already shamefully forgotten) let me dig around in the basket full of scarves of all patterns, shape and sizes until I found one that yelled “take me home!” And I picked this one:

Throwback Tri-Polish Tuesday

Throwback Tri-Polish Tuesday

If you cast your mind back all the way to May, which was nearly a month ago already, the Tri-Polish Tuesday colours were Purple, Red and Green. I did three designs which I was chuffed to bits with, and not one of them made it onto the blog in time. May was just one of those months.

So instead, tonight you get all three of them!

Tri-Polish Tuesday #3: Blue, Yellow & Pink

Another Tuesday already? It must be time for another tri-polish design. This one is inspired by Nuthin’ But A Nail Thing.

The Neverending Pile Challenge: Drugstore

The Neverending Pile Challenge: Drugstore

We don’t really have drugstores here in the UK, so I had to interpret this one a little bit. In this context, I’m figuring what the Americans call a drugstore we would call a pharmacy. A big one like Boots or Superdrug that sell all your toiletries as well as just prescription medication etc. This means to me cheap polish, or at least relatively inexpensive. So I’ve gone for Miss Sporty. I think I picked up these two polishes along with a third for £5. These are not at all expensive. Miss Sporty has a bit of a reputation for being a young person brand rather than a serious one for buying your make up from, but I got these colours because I was trying to match them to a dress at the time and these were the closest I could find. I have apparently used them once before but it was very subtle!

Tri-Polish Tuesday: Blue, Yellow & Pink

I’ve been meaning to get around to doing one of these for months! I’m thanking my lucky stars I had a weekend all to myself and I filled it with nail art. It was great!

I’m very pleased with this. The point of Tri-Polish Tuesday is that you have three colours and you’re only allowed to use those, black and white, gold and silver and glitter toppers. The colours for April are Pink, Yellow and Blue. A bit close to primary colours for me and I struggled to think of a design for a while but then I figured I’d just go for a simple gradient. And somehow, three colours have become many!

March Gig Nails: Red and White Polka Dots

March Gig Nails: Red and White Polka Dots

This is a typically picture heavy post for a set of gig nails. I can’t help showing them off! Since I started using adhesive tabs to stick false nails on rather than glue, I’ve been wearing falsies more often. This particular set of nails has seen quite a few uses – two gigs and a wedding! This is a very simple design by my standards, but I wanted to match this gorgeous dress that I’ve had lots of excuse to wear this month.
